So I've been playing Guitar Hero 3 for about a year and a half now and I've never had a problem until now. Randomly one day I try to play, as I'm about to pick a song in the setlist the 'Downloadable Content has changed.
As a result the game restart,' message appears. That would be no issue if it didn't happen every time I tried to pick a song but the game is no longer playable because I can't even pick a song. I deleted all of my downloadables and cleared the chache using the X,X,Rb,Lb,X,X trick. Still getting the message. Cleaned off the disc and nothings changed. Am I gonna have to buy a new Guitar Hero disc or is it a console problem? Are you using the original profile you purchased the songs with, or did you download them on your profile?
From the sounds of it, it'll be a bug similar to the downloadable content disappearing problem. Its a software problem, not a console problem though so don't worry about that.

First: Go to System settings. Scroll down to restore to factory default settings. Click on Yes and re-set them.
Power down your PS3. Unplug the power cord from it for 2 minutes. While it is unplugged, unplug your wireless router for 30 seconds. Plug it back in.
Now plug your PS3 back up and turn the power on. If this doesn't fix the isue then do the following: On your XMB dashboard, there will be two files. One is for game updates, the other is for game progress. Delete all of these for Guitar Hero. Turn the PS3 off. Turn it back on and re-install the update for the game.
Any downloadable content that you paid for thru the Playstation can be re-downloaded for free! Yes, you will have to start your progress from square zero, but you will be able to play your game! If not then you ave other issues. If it is a Guitar Hero issue go to and start a RMA warranty request.
If it is a PS3 issue, go to and click support. Then click on service and see if your unit is still under warranty. (One year from purchase date-receipt required) Warranty claims for the PS3 generally take about 14 days!

Sorry for the delay, I had this issue for months and thought my Xbox was effed beyond repair and was super mad because I was unable to play a game that I spent so much money on. I only have a 4GB HDD on my slim, I tried uploading the game to a usb thumb drive to make room and when I did that the game started acting glitchy and graphics were ill along with getting the green screen followed by the message about downloadable content. This all happened right after the first map pack came out and I thought it messed up everything up.
I effed up by scratching my disc. Kicking myself in the arse now and back on track to beating you all down.
Downloadable Content Has Changed Black Ops 2
I hacked a Scorpio HDD and now have over 100GB space and bummed a copy of BO2 from a friend that let me install it to the newly added space. My scratched disc works fine for booting the game up and the rest of the time things are silent due to the ease of loading from the HDD. The scratch was so minuscule that I didn't think it could have possibly been the issue.
Hope this helps someone else with the issue; I went months without playing because of it. Like I said, I'm a dumbarse! If you're assuming it's a disc issue. I'd recommend trying a different disc. Perhaps finding a friend who also has the game for XBox.
With not only testing the friend's disc on your brother's system, but also your brother's disc on said friend's system. Easy to troubleshoot and you also have a control. If the friend's game has the map(s) work on his system. Then it's more then likely the disc. Knowing that I'd then first take it some place to try and have it cleaned/repaired. The last resort being get a new disc.
Which the trick I'd do there is buy a new game and then return the scratched disc after buying the new game.
